Find your fit before you cast.
We print on four blanks and they do not fit the same. Every product page names the one it uses, and carries the matching chart under the Size Guide link. Find the blank first, then use the chart below it.

Relaxed and a little boxy by design. It is wider through the chest and shorter in the body than a modern retail tee, which is the cut, not a sizing error. Order your normal size. Size down one for a closer silhouette. Confirmed against measured shirts and the chart Comfort Colors publishes.

What happens in the wash
Cotton moves. Garment-dyed cotton moves more, because it is dyed as a finished shirt rather than as fabric. Rather than guess at it, we bought our own and measured them.
Cold wash, low dry: no shrinkage we could measure. We ran a Comfort Colors 1717 and a Bella+Canvas 3001 through a cold wash and a low-heat dry, then measured them against the charts above. Both still matched.
Hot wash, hot dry is a different story. The 1717 gave up between half an inch and an inch and a quarter across the chest, depending on the size. That is a real range rather than one tidy figure, and we would rather hand you the range than round it into something that sounds more confident than it is.
That gap is the entire reason the care instruction says cold and low. Follow it and the shirt you take out of the dryer is the shirt on the chart.
How to measure
- ChestLay a shirt that already fits you flat on a table. Measure straight across one inch below the armholes, seam to seam. That number is the chest width in every chart above. Double it if you want full chest.
- LengthMeasure from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the bottom hem.
- MatchFind the blank on the product page, then compare your numbers to that chart. Between two sizes, follow the fit note underneath it.
Is this unisex or men's sizing?
All four blanks are cut unisex. There is no separate women's size run.
As a general rule, a woman who wears a women's medium usually takes a small in the 1717 for a fitted look, or a medium for the relaxed drape the shirt was designed around. On the Bella+Canvas 3001, which sits closest to a modern retail cut, a women's medium generally maps to a small.
Care
Wash cold and inside out. Dry low or hang. Garment-dyed color softens with every wash, and a little fade is the point, not a flaw. Skip the bleach and skip the iron on the print.
